Saute 2 diced green peppers and a chopped yellow onion along w/ 2-3 chopped cloves of garlic until onion is soft. Add 2 cups of TVP (rehydrated in 1 3/4 cup boiling water about 10 min. previously). Stir often. Add a 16 oz can of tomato puree, 1 cup of diced fresh tomatoes and season w/ 1/4 tsp. each of basil, oregano, paprika and salt. Finally add some black pepper and 2 Tablespoons of vegan Worcestershire sauce.
One recipe said to simmer for an hour, but I was too impatient and after 10-20 minutes, I tasted it and it was fine.
It was the first time I used the breadmachine to make hamburger buns, and now I don't think I can go back to store-bought!
