Banh Hoi Cha Gio
Steamed angelhair rice noodles with lemongrass-grilled vegetables, scallions, fried shallots, roasted peanuts, mint, salad, pickled vegetables, peanut sauce, and nuoc cham sauce. from L'Annam in New York
Asian food is my favorite, but I'm always wary of eating it out because I don't know what's in the sauces. How did you know this was a vegan nuoc cham sauce, because you know the restuarant?
You can always ask the staff if there are any animal products in the sauce. Usually there aren't though (with Malaysian food probably being the biggest exception). I find Asian food the easiest option for eating out actually - there's almost always something vegan on the menu and there're very rarely any dairy products.
I can't pronounce it, but I'd sure like to eat it all up.
