sweet sticky rice with mango




sweet purple rice topped with mango and coconut cream. best. dessert. ever. (from Lao Village restaurant in Syracuse, NY 208 W Genesee St, (315) 435-8151)

    There is a Thai restaurant here in Norfolk that serves a warm black rice and coconut pudding just like that, but they don't add the mango on top. I read that black rice is called "Forbidden Rice" because only the Asian aristocracy was allowed to eat it in fuedal times. So glad that that rule has been abolished!

    I could eat myself silly on this stuff - actually I think I have, there's an all-you-can-eat vegan Thai buffet here in Seattle. Bad thing, having all-you-can-eat dessert...

  3. That looks nice. I love mango especially the sour one, the unripe mango. It's a snack here but it also tastes very very very sour that it hurts stomach sometimes. I just can't get enough of that young mango.

  7. veggie paparazzo, I'm not sure how they made their coconut cream, but it tasted like a condensed coconut milk with sugar added to it. Whatever it was, it was good!
